My young friend likes baked beans pretty much so she eats it almost once a day. The beans used in baked beans are all native to North America and were introduced Europe around 1530. The baked bean recipe from various Europe regions cross-fertilised in North America and ultimately gave rise to the baked bean which is familiar to us now.
Baked Beans are very popular in UK so some people regard baked beans as integral part of the modern Full English Breakfast. Here in New Zealand, they sell Baked Beans as loss leader because supermarkets sell them for an abnormally low price, often less than cost. I am not a big fan of baked beans but wee bit like it in tomato sauce.
