Long Black Coffee

I love a long black coffee, that is the espresso kind but I don't know why there is such a variety of what I get when I ask for a long black in the coffee shop. It is more like a watered down filter coffee than an espresso. I suspect they may pour the water over the shot rather than the shot over the water, it needs to be a double shot so I would rather ask them to do a true long black which has neither water nor milk added. If hot water is added, it's an Americano! Aye mate?
