Spelling Saga
The point is that New Zealand schools don't adamantly insist on correct students' spelling, and I believe that's where it starts. Students in university are also gently told that spelling does scarcely matter. I would believe the "spelling" matters as I think the problem is much more deeply rooted than we think. People would be shocked at the number of university students who can't spell and make basic grammatical errors. Some don't understand how to turn sentences into a paragraph. It's absolutely mind-blowing to see it and realise they completed high school, supposedly with decent grades. I wish people will be encouraged to either learn to spell if they are capable of it or if there's a medical issue like, say, dyslexia, get assistance if their spelling is incorrect.
