Sea Friendly?

This afternoon I came across with a group of newbies who were in the process of yachting course. I was surprised to see that the camouflage of newbies is mottled light blue. The explanation one trainer gave is that Auckland is a seaside city, and blue is associated with the sea and the navy. The blue camouflage would provide good cover if we are floating in the sea, I expect, but not useful if we are hoping to get rescued.
