Raging Vodka
I read an article that alcohol-associated excesses accounted for 52 per cent of all Russian deaths at ages 15 to 54 from 1990 to 2000. However I think the huge mortality rates are not a result of alcohol poisoning, but because of alcohol-induced risk taking with the male population, resulting from a combination of a culture that embraces alcohol and the "tough guy" image, lack of economic opportunity, a lower standard of living and boredom.
All of those leads to drunk people climbing tall buildings and falling off, lethal bar fights, and a whole lot of excessive drinking and drug use. Yeah right.
