Initially, the two impressive things I saw at Lyttleton were the electric blue waters and huge commercial carriers at the port. I think Lyttleton is a spot with just the right mix of nature and civilisation. That was our second visit to Lyttleton Boat Ramp and quite astonished at the empty sites, literally no campers there. Unfortunately our neighbour German campers got the creeps from rude locals during the night and police was involved too. Hence I'd recommend to stay at the boat ramp side at off season due to the safety concern.
