Arguably by Christopher Hitchens

Frankly speaking, I could not put down this collection of essays, covering literature and literary figures and their quirks, as well as political analyses gleaned from his travels to all parts of the planet. His writing is always brilliant, acidly witty - there is no-one like him and despite whatever disagreements some might have with his political positions. He is, for example, very wary of the rise of Islamic fundamentalism, which some may see as unfair. But his opinions are always worth considering.

I believe this book is best read on a kindle or ebook reader as we can put our finger on a word and the definition pops up. It really was interesting to see all the yellow highlights I put on the words I called up.  I can usually figure out the definition by context but it is fun to see how a superior wordsmith like Christopher puts words to use.  I believe this guy is a brilliant author who covers an amazing diversity of topics in a great analytic and well argued style.
