Beggar Belief

This afternoon I was walking along Shortland Street when I saw a man with a sign saying 'Need money for food'. As it happens, I didn't have any petty cash on me but remembered I had my lunch which I didn't eat from that day so I got it out and told him that you could have my lunch. By the way it wasn't bad as it's a fancy panini sandwich in clear plastic packaging with sealed edges. However he indignantly replied, 'No thanks, I prefer cash'. It seems beggars can be choosers. Yeah right.
