This book was a precisely measured, concise historical writing, but packed with pertinent information. Being an enthusiastic reader to Irish history, I thought reading this book would be a marvelous opportunity for me to broaden my knowledge. Yes, I have greatly appreciated it as the author seemed reasonably impartial in its assessment of all sides of the argument all the way through.
Although I may not fully mastered the core of his research, the author's prose and patient depictions allowed me to understand most of the significant issues and personalities involved. I may have been hampered by not being an Irish however managed to enjoy the sophisticated fabric of Irish history.
