This afternoon I had my first jab of Pfizer and I think it does give me hope of slight freedom. I shall have to wait three weeks to get my second dose. Given what we have all endured over the last year, I think vaccines are indeed crowning achievement of our bloody battle to Covid 19 virus.
However a new variant could start to avoid antibodies provided by the vaccine I got today, Pfizer is very unlikely to become entirely ineffective to such an annoying variant.
At this stage, there is no evidence that Pfizer will fail to neutralise the shape shifting virus observed so far. But I am understandably concerned that a new strain could evolve in the near future and would develop into so called breakthrough infection after shots.
